North Branch Trail Fall Photos
Miami Woods and North

(click on any photo to enlarge)

I liked the color of the trees in the distance, the way that they were lit up by the bright autumn sunlight and the contrast with the very shaded Miami Woods. Although the photo above is pretty dark, you can see the entrance to the bridge that goes over Oakton Street off in the distance (you can actually see this better in one of the photos below).

Cyclist in Miami Woods section of NBT

This is looking back at the Bent Tree (shown from the other side in the previous photo page) from near the same location in Miami Woods. The North Branch River is off to the right (east of the trail) in the photo above. The river is on the west side of the trail in some of the previous photos that were north of Dempster Street (which is where you cross to the other side). Actually there are places farther north on the trail where the trail runs along both sides of the river.

Fall colors and shades in Miami Woods

This is another view of the lit up fall trees and shady Miami Woods on the North Branch Trail. You can see the start of the bridge that goes over Oakton St and Caldwell Ave in the distance (which is more visible in the blow up view of this photo).

Second and third deer spotted on NBT bike ride

Deer #2 and #3 on this particular fall ride on the NBT. There are quite a few deer in these woods and they do seem to be pretty brave when it comes to us humans.

Truck Crossing sign along the North Branch Trail

This is a "Truck Xing" sign that I noticed near the golf course as I was on my way back north again. I know that the North Branch Trail has been around for decades but I have no idea why there is a truck crossing sign here. I didn't see any trucks!

Beautiful Fall colors on North Branch Trail bike ride.

And finally, this is just one of the forest preserve entrances (which I think is closed) with some nice fall colors. There isn't much of a subject for this photo but I loved the colors and this trip was all about the fall colors!

This is definitely a nice trail to enjoy the fall colors this time of year.

The North Branch Trail Photo Tour

Here's the photo tour of the North Branch Trail from Devon Avenue in Chicago to the northern end of the trail, at Dundee Road and then into the Chicago Botanic Gardens, from July, 2012.
